An essential part of magic is the act of changing. Change is, I think, what conveys meaning and intention to actualize as magic. Which is why many ordinary acts can be used as vehicles, such as brewing coffee, making tea, cleaning, a candle burning, writing, potting plants, picking up leaves and flowers, cooking, baking, and a lot of other things can be used to make magic. What really matters is to focus on the actual change that is happening, and believe in its meaning, so that the transformation we use as vehicle can lead to the change our magic is calling for. Intention needs energy, and in my experience magic can be rather draining if everything comes from within. Also I think that having part of the process of invoking energy and intention be outside of me helps me be more direct and precise.
